New build · Garmin Approach R50 · SIM 4 bay
Your golf room, designed before the walls go up.
Here are two complete rooms sized to your 5 × 9m, with every cost on the table and the one I'd build for you marked.
That's the Garmin Approach R50 room I'd build, ready-filled at £8,647.96. Each room below has its own basket.
Your room — 5 × 9m, drawn to scale
Your space
Your space: 5 × 9m
Drawn to your measurements: 5m wide, 9m long and 4m high — a garden cabin still to be built, with the screen on one of the 5m end walls and the far end kept clear for yoga.
Worth sorting before it arrives
For the projector and the R50, plus one by the hitting area.
The 10m HDMI cable carries the picture from the launch monitor or PC to the projector. Plan where it runs, under the turf or in a cable cover, so nobody trips on it.
A darker room gives a sharper picture.
And 8cm either side, so the screen can give with each shot.
Your room in 3D — tap any item for details
A to-scale render of your 5 × 9m room with the SIM 4 bay, the Garmin Approach R50 and the projector in place. Every dot opens the product and its price.
Please note
A render, not a photo: it shows the kit to scale in a plain room. Doors, windows and finishes are not drawn.
In every room
The kit every room shares
Whichever you choose, you get the complete room. Only the launch monitor changes.

The enclosure
See the build quality for yourself
Every room on this page is built inside a SimSpace enclosure. Watch the frame close up, see it come out of the box and go together, then see one finished and in use.

The decision
Two complete rooms, compared
Each is itemised, priced live today, with its own basket.
The Garmin Approach R50 room
No PC, simple to use, and the most popular choice for a home and friends sim
The Foresight GC3 room
Foresight's camera accuracy, with a gaming laptop to run it
Why I'd build the Garmin Approach R50 room
No PC, simple to use, and the most popular choice for a home and friends sim. It fits your 5 × 9m room in a SIM 4 bay, with nothing needed behind the ball.
The trade-off: Club data is less consistent than its ball data in independent tests.
What I've assumed
The projector sits in its floor case in front of you — prefer it on the ceiling? I'll swap it.
We haven't talked budget, so I've recommended the best-value room that fits rather than the most expensive.
No gaming PC needed: the Garmin Approach R50 runs the simulator itself.
If any of that's wrong, tell me and I'll redraw it.

| Club data | Less reliable: some missed reads, angle of attack weakest | Within 0–4% of a GCQuad (independent reviews) |
| Not measured | Impact location, descent angle, dynamic loft | Face angle, face to path, impact location |
Software and running costs
| Included free | All ball and club data, impact video, driving-range practice and third-party connections | Ball and club data, MyBag and 10 sessions of history (Foresight+ Free) |
| All data views | Included | Foresight+ Silver, $199 a year: unlimited history, dispersion, tags, zones, drills and challenges |
| Courses | Home Tee Hero: 43,000+ courses with a Garmin Golf membership | Course Pass $295 a year (35 courses) or Course Pass Pro $595 a year (all 111). Needs Silver or Gold |
| All data + good courses | £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year | About $794 a year: Silver + Course Pass Pro (111 courses) |
| Swing video & GSPro | Impact video is included. Also works with GSPro (Windows PC, its own licence), E6 Connect and Awesome Golf, with no Garmin membership needed | Foresight+ Gold, $599 a year: swing video in the Foresight app, and access for software such as GSPro (GSPro subscription bought separately) |
| Runs on | The R50's own screen, straight to the projector over HDMI (1080p) | A Windows gaming PC, out to the projector |
| Games & multi-sport | Golf only. Other sports need an add-on such as the TruGolf ARCADE, plus a PC | Golf only. Foresight's football (Skill Drill) is on its GCHawk only |
Garmin Approach R50: Club data needs the reflective stickers supplied with the R50, one on each club face. Ball data works without them. All shot data, impact video and driving-range practice are included. A Garmin Golf membership adds course play, practice on those courses, the weekly tournament and cloud video storage. Ball data is its strength. In independent tests, club data was less consistent, with some missed reads and angle of attack the weakest.
Foresight GC3: Club data needs one Foresight club marker on the face (supplied). Ball and club data are both on Foresight's free plan. Tour-level ball data. Club data covers club speed, smash, path and angle of attack; for face angle you'd need Foresight's GCQuad.
Picture quality
1080p or 4K: what you'll actually see
The picture is only as sharp as the weakest link: what draws it (the launch monitor or a PC) and the projector. Impact screens sold as “4K” have a finer weave that shows a sharp picture cleanly, but the resolution itself comes from the projector and what feeds it.
Garmin R50 on its own
The R50 runs its courses itself and sends the picture over HDMI at up to 1080p. A 1080p short-throw projector is the right match. A 4K projector would only upscale the same 1080p picture.
Garmin R50 with a gaming PC
Connect the R50 to a gaming PC running GSPro or E6 Connect and the PC draws the picture. With a 4K-capable PC and a 4K projector, that's true 4K. GSPro needs its own licence.
PC-run launch monitors
Foresight, Full Swing and similar units run on a PC, so the PC and projector set the picture. A 4K PC and a 4K projector give true 4K; a 1080p projector gives 1080p.
Is 4K worth it? It's sharpest on a big screen viewed up close, and for films or TV on the same projector. For golf on an R50, 1080p is the honest match.
Worth adding
Extras worth considering
Optional, each with its own one-tap basket.

The courses
Courses: St Andrews, Pebble Beach and thousands more
Every course below is from Foresight's simulator library, captured in-game. The R50 brings Home Tee Hero's worldwide library.

Course Pass Pro ($595 a year, needs Silver or Gold) covers 111 courses; some championship courses are sold separately. GSPro (with Gold, plus its own subscription) adds thousands more. Screenshots: Foresight Sports.

Home Tee Hero on the Garmin R50
Built into the R50, on its own 10" screen or your projector. More than 43,000 courses, with fifteen rebuilt in higher detail:
Course play needs a Garmin Golf membership, £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year. Fifteen courses are rebuilt in higher detail with mapped green contours. Augusta National is the course layout, not official Masters branding.

Golf and yoga
One cabin, two uses
At 9m deep, the cabin has room for both. The golf end takes the first 5.5m from the screen wall; the rest is clear floor for yoga.
A SimSpace SIM 4 on one 5m end wall, with putting turf on cushioned underlay for the first 4m. The SIM 4 is only 1.5m deep, which is what leaves the far end free.
About 5 × 3.5m of clear floor behind the swing, on the cabin's own floor rather than turf, so mats lie flat.
Both launch monitors sit beside the ball, so nothing goes on the floor behind the golfer and the space behind the swing stays open.
A ceiling track and curtain across the cabin at about 5.5m would separate the two ends. It's a job for your cabin builder.
Your cabin
What to tell your cabin builder
The cabin isn't built yet, so a few details are easiest to settle now.
At least 2.7m across the golf end, under any beams or tie bars. The SIM 4 stands 2.5m tall; the extra is for a full swing.
One of the 5m end walls, with no door or window on it. Doors and windows work best on the side walls at the yoga end.
About 1.5m out from the screen wall, centred, for the projector in its floor case, and one near the hitting area for the launch monitor.
Between the two for the HDMI lead, in the floor or under the turf.
The underlay and turf go straight on top at the golf end.
So the electronics and the impact screen aren't sitting in a cold, damp cabin through the winter.
In the cabin, for course downloads and updates.
Dimmable lights over the golf end, kept off the screen, and a fixing point above the hitting area for a simulator light.
