Prepared for you · October 2026
Your room · Garmin Approach R50 · SIM 3 bay
Your golf room, designed and costed.
Here are three complete rooms sized to your 4 × 6m, with every cost on the table and the one I'd build for you marked.
That's the Garmin Approach R50 room I'd build, ready-filled at £7,317.99. Each room below has its own basket.
Your room — 4 × 6m, drawn to scale
Your space
Your space: 4 × 6m
Drawn to your measurements: 4m wide, 6m long and 3m high.
Worth sorting before it arrives
For the projector and the R50, plus one by the hitting area.
The 10m HDMI cable carries the picture from the launch monitor or PC to the projector. Plan where it runs, under the turf or in a cable cover, so nobody trips on it.
A darker room gives a sharper picture.
And 8cm either side, so the screen can give with each shot.
Your room in 3D — tap any item for details
A to-scale render of your 4 × 6m room with the SIM 3 bay, the Garmin Approach R50 and the projector in place. Every dot opens the product and its price.
Please note
A render, not a photo: it shows the kit to scale in a plain room. Doors, windows and finishes are not drawn.
In every room
The kit every room shares
Whichever you choose, you get the complete room. Only the launch monitor changes.

The enclosure
See the build quality for yourself
The SimSpace rooms on this page are built inside a SimSpace enclosure. Watch the frame close up, see it come out of the box and go together, then see one finished and in use.

The decision
Three complete rooms, compared
Each is itemised, priced live today, with its own basket.
The Square Golf room
The value pick — camera accuracy without the price tag
The Garmin Approach R50 room
The self-contained pick — built-in screen, no PC required to start
The Uneekor Eye Mini Lite room
The serious-practice pick — pro-grade camera data, sensible money
Why I'd build the Garmin Approach R50 room
The self-contained pick — built-in screen, no PC required to start. It fits your 4 × 6m room in a SIM 3 bay, with nothing needed behind the ball.
The trade-off: Projected course play at its best still wants a gaming PC and GSPro — the built-in screen is the starting point, not the ceiling.
What I've assumed
The room is drawn for a right-handed golfer.
The projector sits in its floor case in front of you — prefer it on the ceiling? I'll swap it.
We haven't talked budget, so I've recommended the best-value room that fits rather than the most expensive.
No gaming PC needed: the Garmin Approach R50 runs the simulator itself.
If any of that's wrong, tell me and I'll redraw it.

Garmin Approach R50£3,879.00
|
|
|---|---|
| Technology | 3 high-speed cameras |

| Needs a PC | No. It runs on its own 10" screen and sends 1080p to the projector over HDMI |
| Courses | 43,000+ on Home Tee Hero |
| Course play cost | £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year (Garmin Golf membership) |
| Impact video | Yes, every shot |
| Lifts out to store | Yes, one unit of about 4kg, with a carry case |
| Club data set-up | Reflective stickers on the club face (supplied), needed for all club data |
| Data quality | Ball data very close to a GCQuad; club data less consistent (independent tests) |

Accuracy in independent tests
| Ball speed | Within 1 mph (one reviewer, against a GCQuad) |
| Spin | Within about 100 rpm; can read 200–300 rpm high on low-lofted wedges |
| Ball data overall | Very close to a GCQuad; carry ran a few percent short in some tests |
| Club data | Less reliable: some missed reads, angle of attack weakest |
| Not measured | Impact location, descent angle, dynamic loft |
Software and running costs
| Included free | All ball and club data, impact video, driving-range practice and third-party connections |
| All data views | Included |
| Courses | Home Tee Hero: 43,000+ courses with a Garmin Golf membership |
| All data + good courses | £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year |
| Swing video & GSPro | Impact video is included. Also works with GSPro (Windows PC, its own licence), E6 Connect and Awesome Golf, with no Garmin membership needed |
| Runs on | The R50's own screen, straight to the projector over HDMI (1080p) |
| Games & multi-sport | Golf only. Other sports need an add-on such as the TruGolf ARCADE, plus a PC |
Garmin Approach R50: Club data needs the reflective stickers supplied with the R50, one on each club face. Ball data works without them. All shot data, impact video and driving-range practice are included. A Garmin Golf membership adds course play, practice on those courses, the weekly tournament and cloud video storage. Ball data is its strength. In independent tests, club data was less consistent, with some missed reads and angle of attack the weakest.
Picture quality
1080p or 4K: what you'll actually see
The picture is only as sharp as the weakest link: what draws it (the launch monitor or a PC) and the projector. Impact screens sold as “4K” have a finer weave that shows a sharp picture cleanly, but the resolution itself comes from the projector and what feeds it.
Garmin R50 on its own
The R50 runs its courses itself and sends the picture over HDMI at up to 1080p. A 1080p short-throw projector is the right match. A 4K projector would only upscale the same 1080p picture.
Garmin R50 with a gaming PC
Connect the R50 to a gaming PC running GSPro or E6 Connect and the PC draws the picture. With a 4K-capable PC and a 4K projector, that's true 4K. GSPro needs its own licence.
PC-run launch monitors
Foresight, Full Swing and similar units run on a PC, so the PC and projector set the picture. A 4K PC and a 4K projector give true 4K; a 1080p projector gives 1080p.
Is 4K worth it? It's sharpest on a big screen viewed up close, and for films or TV on the same projector. For golf on an R50, 1080p is the honest match.

Optional, each with its own one-tap basket.

The courses
Courses: play Augusta, Pebble Beach and 43,000 more
Home Tee Hero comes on the R50 and plays on your projector over HDMI.

Home Tee Hero on the Garmin R50
Built into the R50, on its own 10" screen or your projector. More than 43,000 courses, with fifteen rebuilt in higher detail:
Course play needs a Garmin Golf membership, £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year. Fifteen courses are rebuilt in higher detail with mapped green contours. Augusta National is the course layout, not official Masters branding.
