Outdoors
Garmin rates the R50 for indoor and outdoor use. Pair it with our Pro Golf Cage and mat on the lawn: you watch the real ball flight into the net while the R50 reads the numbers on its own screen.

Cameras, not guesswork
The R50 stands about half a metre to the side of your tee, facing it, so nothing sits behind you and nothing sits in the ball's path. Scroll through what happens in the moment you hit.

Three high-speed cameras capture the ball and club at impact, and the R50 keeps a slow-motion video of every strike so you can see exactly what happened.

Direct measurements of ball speed and launch angle, as well as spin rate, spin axis and more. Spin is measured, not calculated.

Stick one of the included club stickers on the face and the R50 measures club speed and angles too. Putters don't need one.

Track stats for each club and get a shot dispersion chart built on an advanced ball-flight model. Tap and hold any number on the screen for Garmin's definition of it.

How the setup works
The R50 stands beside the ball and measures the shot. One HDMI lead takes Home Tee Hero to the projector, and the impact screen stops the ball. Nothing else sits in between: no PC, no phone.
Out of the box
Drawn for SIM 2, our most popular enclosure (3.0 × 2.5 × 1.5 m inside), in the room we plan for it: 3.26 m wide, 4.2 m long, 2.7 m ceiling. The R50 position is from Garmin’s owner’s manual. The ceiling projector shown is the AH700ST or AK700ST, about 2.82 m from the screen (BenQ’s calculator, up to 3.39 m); the package includes the AH500ST in a floor case, 2.04 m from the screen. Other sizes are in the room picker below.
Home Tee Hero comes pre-installed on the R50, so there is nothing to download and no phone to pair. Course play needs an active Garmin Golf membership.

Your home club, a venue the pros play or the course you're visiting next summer. Every course has forward tees for newer golfers.

Desert, grassland and tropical settings, with shot physics and green friction fine-tuned by Garmin.

15+ courses carry high-resolution lidar data on every green and truer tree cover, so the greens you read follow the real contours.

Drop a ball anywhere on any hole and hit it again, and again. Made for the approach shot that keeps catching you out.

Up to 8 players on one screen in local multiplayer: Stroke Play, Stableford, Match Play or Skins.

A new tournament course each week against golfers around the world. Replay it as often as you like to climb the leaderboard.

★★★★★5-star review
“Tom, was excellent with the options he gave me and the Launcher Options he gave me. Everything from the Launcher to the hitting area is really good quality. I did have one minor teething issue with my Garmin R50 Launcher, I reported it to Tom, who put me onto the Garmin helpline and they where excellent too. The issue was resolved promptly and to my satisfaction. I honestly couldn't be happier with the after service and my Sim setup and would highly recommend Tom and OpenGolfer to all golfers looking for an indoor solution.”

No. The R50 runs its simulator on its own 10-inch touchscreen, and one HDMI lead sends it to the projector. If you later want GSPro or E6, those need a gaming PC; our sim experts can spec one, but you don't need it to start.
We plan R50 rooms of at least 3.0m wide, 2.7m high and 4.2m long (4.3m and a 3.1m ceiling for the taller SIM 5 and SIM 6). Use the size picker above to see each enclosure, or read our Garmin Approach® R50 room requirements guide. If your room is tight, tell us anyway: we'll show you the options rather than say no.
The Garmin Approach® R50, a SimSpace enclosure with its impact screen in the size you pick, the BenQ AH500ST short-throw projector in a SimSpace floor case, the SimSpace Tee Turf mat and a 10m HDMI lead. The package page prices every part.
Home Tee Hero's 43,000+ courses and online play use a Garmin Golf membership at £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year. That's the only running cost unless you later add GSPro or E6.
Yes. The R50 stands beside the ball, so a mixed household just moves it across the mat between players.
Garmin rates the R50 for indoor and outdoor use. The two setups we plan most are a home golf simulator, with a SimSpace enclosure, impact screen and projector, and a garden golf cage, where you watch the real ball flight into the net while the R50 reads the numbers. It also packs away for a net in the garage or a session at the range.
Yes. The Garmin Approach® R50 launch monitor is sold separately for a garden cage, a room you already have or the range, and you can add a SimSpace enclosure later.
Message our sim experts on WhatsApp and they capture your space and goals: room size, how you'll use it, budget and software. Then a quick 15 to 20 minute call at a time that suits you, and your own R50 plan, the unit on its own or a full room with a 3D design. You get the current offer with its price and end date in writing, and you order only when you're ready. It's free, with no obligation. Our sim experts are on WhatsApp 6am–10pm.
