It needs a room of at least 3.0 m wide, 2.7 m high and 4.2 m long (R50 room requirements). Three-camera launch monitor with the simulator built in: 43,000+ courses on its own screen or the projector, no PC.

Steel frame with numbered poles, velour side and ceiling panels. The size follows the room you pick above.

Fitted to the bay. Takes the ball at full speed and shows the projector picture; it comes with the enclosure.

Takes a real wooden tee anywhere on the turf. Sits inside the bay with the R50 beside it.

Garmin’s picture on the big screen. 0.499 throw, 4,000 lumens, fills a 2.3m screen from 2.04m, in front of you so there is no shadow.

Steel case with a turf top. Sits on the floor between the mat and the screen, so nothing is fixed to the room.

The one lead you need: R50 to projector. Long enough to run round the edge of the bay, never across it.
Three measurements, inside the room. We will show which sizes fit.
Needs at least 3.0m wide, 2.7m ceiling and 4.2m long. Short on length? SIM 0 needs 2.8m.
Every size is the full package — only the bay changes.

Bay size guide
Sizes are width × height × depth of the enclosure itself. Plan a room at least 3.0m wide, 2.7m high (3m or more is ideal) and 4.2m long (4.3m for SIM 5 and 6; 2.8m for the 1m-deep SIM 0), with 30cm behind the screen and 8cm clear each side of the frame.
| Bay | Metres (W×H×D) | Screen | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| SIM 0 | 3.3 × 2.5 × 1 | 1.3:1 | Tight-depth rooms |
| SIM 1 | 2.6 × 2.5 × 1.5 | 1.0:1 | Single garages |
| SIM 2 | 3 × 2.5 × 1.5 | 1.2:1 | Most garages |
| SIM 3 | 3.6 × 2.5 × 1.5 | 1.4:1 | Wider rooms |
| SIM 4 | 4 × 2.5 × 1.5 | 1.6:1 | Double garages |
| SIM 5 | 3 × 3 × 3 | 1.0:1 | High ceilings, full depth |
| SIM 6 | 4 × 3 × 3 | 1.3:1 | Dedicated sim rooms |
The R50 stands ~0.5m to the side of the ball — no extra depth needed behind you.

What you'll love
Garmin calls it "the only portable golf launch monitor with a built-in simulator". These are its six features, in Garmin's words, on the unit's own screen.

Tap into insights, review impact videos, or play a round on over 43,000 courses straight from the 10" built-in colour touchscreen.

Direct measurements of your ball speed and launch angle, as well as spin rate, spin axis and more.

Dial in your swing with direct measurements of your club speed and angles.

Fine-tune your form with precision metrics captured by three high-speed cameras, and a slow-motion video of every strike.

Track stats for each club, and get a shot dispersion chart based on an advanced ball-flight trajectory model.

Play virtual rounds, from drive to putt, with up to four players on more than 43,000 courses with the Home Tee Hero app.

Home Tee Hero
Garmin’s Home Tee Hero turns the R50 into a full interactive simulator — real courses mapped from satellite data, playable on its own touchscreen or thrown onto the big screen through the included projector. Full rounds, closest-to-the-pin, and weekly online tournaments against other golfers.

The launch monitor
A 10-inch touchscreen runs Garmin’s full simulator on the unit itself — no gaming PC, no laptop, no phone propped on a tripod. Home Tee Hero and online play use a Garmin Golf membership (£8.99 a month or £89.99 a year); GSPro or E6 can be added later with a PC if you ever want them.

The data
Three high-speed cameras measure spin rate and spin axis directly — a genuine step up from radar units that calculate them. Ball speed, launch, carry, apex, offline; club path, face angle and more with the included clubface stickers. The trade-off: for pro-level club data, a Foresight still leads — ask our experts if that’s your priority.

The bay
The SimSpace enclosure’s 4K impact screen fixes under tension on all four sides — it pulls flat like a drum, so the picture stays true shot after shot. Velour side and ceiling panels and an aluminium push-connect frame that goes up in 20–30 minutes. Seven sizes, including the 1m-deep SIM 0 for tighter rooms.

The picture
The BenQ AH500ST is included: a golf-sim short-throw; it sits low in front of you on its floor mount, filling the screen edge to edge without casting your shadow over the ball. One HDMI lead from the R50 and you’re playing full courses at cinema scale.
The offer
Enclosure, R50, projector and mat — matched, delivered and supported as one setup. The saving is already built into the price, so there’s no code to enter and nothing to time.
The honest comparison
An honest look at where the R50 wins — and where it doesn't. No spin.

From a Garmin R50 package owner
★★★★★ 5-star review
“Tom, was excellent with the options he gave me and the Launcher Options he gave me. Everything from the Launcher to the hitting area is really good quality. I did have one minor teething issue with my Garmin R50 Launcher, I reported it to Tom, who put me onto the Garmin helpline and they where excellent too. The issue was resolved promptly and to my satisfaction. I honestly couldn't be happier with the after service and my Sim setup and would highly recommend Tom and OpenGolfer to all golfers looking for an indoor solution.”

2.7m is the minimum for a full driver swing, and 3m or more is ideal. The SIM 0 to SIM 4 bays are 2.5m tall; SIM 5 and SIM 6 are 3m tall and need a ceiling of at least 3.1m. If you're between those numbers, a few full driver swings in the room will settle it — or send us a video and we'll tell you straight.
We design R50 rooms of at least 3.0m wide, 2.7m high and 4.2m long (4.3m for the taller SIM 5 and SIM 6 bays). The seven SimSpace sizes run from 2.6m to 4m wide and 1m to 3m deep, so most single garages, garden rooms and spare rooms work. If your room is under those numbers we'll say so rather than sell you a simulator you can't swing in — a garden cage or the R50 on its own for the range is the better start. The full numbers are in our Garmin R50 room requirements guide.
No. The R50 runs its simulator on its own 10-inch touchscreen, and one HDMI lead sends it to the included projector. If you later want GSPro or E6, those need a gaming PC — we can spec one, but you don't need it to start.
Your chosen SimSpace enclosure with 4K impact screen, the Garmin Approach R50 with case and clubface stickers, the BenQ AH500ST short-throw projector with floor case and mount, the SimSpace Tee Turf hitting mat, and the setup guide. Side netting is available as an add-on (the SIM 0 bay comes with its own). UK mainland delivery is £5.
Most UK R50 enclosure packages stop at the enclosure, screen and mat — the projector and its mount are extra, so the headline price isn't the price of a working simulator. This package includes the BenQ AH500ST short-throw projector and floor case, comes with a free 3D design of your actual room before you buy, and UK delivery is £5. Our R50 packages compared page sets the specs side by side.
The R50 is the only one that runs a simulator with no PC, and its three cameras measure spin directly. SkyTrak+ and Mevo+ cost less but need more kit around them; a Foresight GC3 beats it on club data. The comparison table above shows it honestly — and our experts will tell you if another unit fits you better.
Yes. The Garmin Approach R50 launch monitor is sold separately for the range, a net or a room you already have, and you can add any SimSpace enclosure later. This page is the complete room package built around it.
Yes. The R50 supports both and switches sides in seconds — it stands beside the ball, so a mixed household just moves it across the mat between players.
The R50 plays free on its own screen. Home Tee Hero's 43,000+ courses and online play use a Garmin Golf membership at £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year. That's the only running cost unless you later add GSPro or E6.
