How does the free 3D design and proposal work?
The short answer
Send your room's width, ceiling height and length, plus photos if you can. I send back a proposal page for your room: a 3D render with the kit in place, the options that fit, live prices and a basket link for each. It's free, with no obligation. Rooms must be at least 3.0 x 2.7 x 4.2m.
What it is
The free 3D design is how most of our simulator rooms get planned. You tell me about your space, and I send back a web page made for your room alone: a 3D render of it with the simulator in place, the options that fit, and live prices you can buy from. There's no charge, no deposit and no obligation to buy.
You can ask for it in two ways. Message me on WhatsApp from the free design page, or describe your room to SIM:ON, our AI sim designer, on the SIM:ON page. SIM:ON builds the same kind of page, and I see every one.
First, the size check
We design rooms of at least 3.0m wide, 2.7m high and 4.2m long (4.3m for the taller SIM 5 and SIM 6 enclosures). If your room is under any of those, I'll say so straight away rather than design something you can't use, and point you to a garden cage, a launch monitor for the range or a putting setup instead. Will a golf simulator fit my room? shows how to measure.
What to send
- Your room's width, ceiling height and length in metres, measured where the simulator will stand. Use the narrowest width and the lowest point of the ceiling.
- A few photos of the space, if you can: the wall where the screen would go, the view back from it, and the ceiling. Through SIM:ON you can add up to three.
- Anything fixed in the way: beams, pendant lights, ducting, a boiler, windows, doors or garage door runners.
- Whether you're left- or right-handed, and whether anyone else who'll play swings the other way.
- Any launch monitor you already own or have in mind. A launch monitor is the unit that measures each shot.
- Whether you have a gaming PC, and if so its processor, graphics card and memory.
- Roughly what you'd like to spend, and how you'll use it: practice, course play, family games or all three.
Only the room sizes are essential. Everything else helps me get the first version right.
How we use your photos
Photos show what a tape measure misses: a light in the swing path, a radiator where the screen would go, a socket at the wrong end. We never take a measurement from a photo, because a photo has no scale. If I spot something, I'll describe it and ask you to confirm before treating it as fact. Your photos never appear on your proposal page, and photos sent through SIM:ON are deleted after 90 days.
What you get back
A proposal page with your name on it. It includes:
- A 3D render of your room, made in Blender from your measurements. It's computer modelling of the real kit, not an AI-generated picture: the SimSpace enclosure in your size, the projector, the launch monitor where its manual says it goes, and the mat.
- Measurements drawn on the render: screen size, how far the projector throws, tee to screen, launch monitor height and the room itself. Tap any item to see what it is, its live price and a link to it.
- How your room measures up against each option, including whether there's length for a radar launch monitor.
- What I spotted in your photos, if you sent any.
- Usually up to four options, with the one I'd build first. Each lists every item at its live price, shows any package saving and has its own basket link.
- Add-ons worth considering, each with the reason, such as side netting, an HDMI cable, a ceiling mount or putting turf. They're only added if you say yes.
- The data each launch monitor measures, the software and what it costs each year, the courses you can play, and answers to the usual questions.
You can see a published example at /pages/max-golf-room. Its prices were set when it was built, so treat it as an example of the format, not a quote.
How long it takes
- SIM:ON designs your room in the chat as soon as it has the width, length and ceiling height. You see a first version of the page straight away, and the finished page with the 3D render replaces it about two minutes later.
- On WhatsApp I usually reply within the hour, between 8am and 8pm. A proposal I build by hand takes longer because I check every item against your room, so I don't promise a fixed time.
- Prices on your page are held for 14 days.
What happens next
- Read it in your own time and send any questions. If anything changes, such as the room, the budget or the launch monitor, I'll rebuild the page.
- When you're ready, use the basket link on the option you want, or ask for an invoice by WhatsApp or email and pay by bank transfer.
- We don't send a fitter. If you'd rather not build it yourself, a handyman booked through Airtasker can assemble it.
Returns follow our 14-day policy. If you're still choosing between packages, packages by budget and room is a good place to start.
The free design at a glance
| Stage | What happens | Timing |

| SIM:ON route | Finished page with the Blender 3D render | About two minutes later |
| WhatsApp route | Tom replies and builds the proposal by hand | Usually a reply within the hour, 8am to 8pm |
| Your proposal | 3D render, room fit, options with live prices and basket links, add-ons, software, FAQs | Prices held for 14 days |
| Changes | Room, budget or launch monitor changes: page rebuilt | On request |
| Buying | Basket link, or an invoice paid by bank transfer | When you're ready; no deposit |
The design is free and there's no obligation to buy. We never take measurements from photos, and photos never appear on your page.
Best practice
- Measure at the tightest pointsGive the narrowest width and the lowest ceiling point where the simulator will stand, including beams and lights. The design is only as good as the numbers.
- Send photos as well as sizesThe screen wall, the view back from it and the ceiling show lights, sockets and windows that change the design.
- Say what you already ownA launch monitor or gaming PC you already have changes which options make sense. Include the PC's processor, graphics card and memory.
- Tell me how you'll playPractice, course play and family games each point to different launch monitors and software. One sentence on how you'll use it helps.
Gotchas to avoid
- Measuring the floor, not the ceilingA 2.8m room with a 2.6m beam where you'd swing is a 2.6m room. Measure the lowest point above the hitting area.
- Treating the example as a quoteThe published example page carries the prices from when it was built. Your own page uses live prices, held for 14 days.
- Expecting dimensions from photosPhotos have no scale, so we never measure from them. Send the three measurements as numbers as well.
- Sending sizes under the minimumUnder 3.0 x 2.7 x 4.2m we don't design a simulator. A garden cage, a launch monitor for the range or putting is the better start.
Our recommendation
Measure first, add photos, then ask. SIM:ON gives you a page in minutes; WhatsApp gets you me, and a page I've checked by hand.
- If you want to see options tonight
- Describe your room to SIM:ON on the SIM:ON page; the finished page arrives about two minutes after the design.
- If your room is unusual (a new build, alcoves, a sloping ceiling)
- Message me on WhatsApp from the free design page and send photos.
- If your room is under 3.0 x 2.7 x 4.2m
- Look at a garden cage, a launch monitor for the range or putting instead.

Questions people ask
Is the 3D design really free?
Yes. There's no charge, no deposit and no obligation to buy. You get a proposal page for your room with a 3D render, options and live prices.
What do I need to send?
The room's width, ceiling height and length in metres, measured where the simulator will stand. Photos, handedness, any launch monitor or PC you own, and a rough budget all help, but only the sizes are essential.
How long does it take?
Through SIM:ON, the finished page with its 3D render is usually ready about two minutes after the design is built in the chat. On WhatsApp I usually reply within the hour between 8am and 8pm; a hand-built proposal takes longer, so I don't promise a fixed time.
Is the render an AI image?
No. It's a computer model built in Blender from your measurements and the real dimensions of the kit, with the launch monitor placed where its manual says.
What if my room is too small?
If it's under 3.0m wide, 2.7m high or 4.2m long, I'll tell you rather than design a simulator, and suggest a garden cage, a launch monitor for the range or a putting setup.
Will my photos be published?
No. Photos never appear on your proposal page. Photos sent through SIM:ON are deleted after 90 days.
Still unsure? Ask SIM:ON about this page. It knows our full range and live prices, and can pass your room to Tom.
