GSPro, E6 Connect, Awesome Golf or TGC: which simulator software should you choose?

Tom Hayward Tom Hayward, founder of OpenGolfer · Last reviewed · 3 min read

The short answer

GSPro if you have a Windows gaming PC and want 2,500+ community courses for $250 a year. E6 Connect for licensed courses on a PC or iPad. Awesome Golf for families, with 11 courses, from £14.99 a month and no gaming PC. TGC 2019 is fading out, so I wouldn't start with it.

In summary

They suit different rooms. GSPro has the most courses and needs a Windows gaming PC. E6 Connect has fewer, licensed courses and runs on a PC or iPad. Awesome Golf is the light, family option that runs on almost anything. TGC 2019 is fading out. Your launch monitor narrows the choice before any of that, so check which software works with your launch monitor first.

GSPro

GSPro comes with one driving range and access to its course server, where more than 2,500 community-made courses are free to download. It plays up to 8 players, local or online. It's built on the Unity engine with 4K graphics, and GSPro sells it on its ball physics.

It runs on Windows 10 or 11 only. For 1080p, GSPro's minimum is an RTX 3060 graphics card and 16GB of memory; it recommends an RTX 3060 Ti or 3070. For 4K, it recommends an RTX 3080 or better and 32GB. It costs $250 a year. GSPro only publishes US dollar prices. Lifetime licences are no longer sold, and there's a 7-day refund window, less a $15 fee.

The trade-off: because the courses are made by the community, quality varies from course to course. GSPro also officially supports a fixed list of 31 devices.

E6 Connect

E6 Connect is TruGolf's software. TruGolf says its courses are LiDAR-mapped. It runs on a PC or iOS and plays up to 8 players. It has stroke play, scramble, best ball, Stableford and match play, plus games such as closest to the pin and long drive.

TruGolf doesn't publish its own prices; its page says "Log In to See Price". FlightScope's store sells E6 plans:

  • Basic, $300 a year: 39 courses (27 standard and 12 that rotate)
  • Expanded, $600 a year: more than 90 courses
  • 8-course and 12-course bundles you own outright: $100 and $250

Some launch monitors include E6. The Mevo Gen2 comes with 8 courses for life, and the TruGolf LaunchBox comes with E6 CONNECT Home.

The trade-off: TruGolf now says E6 Golf 2026 replaces and expands on E6 Connect, and that version is described as PC software. Check which version your launch monitor supports.

Awesome Golf

Awesome Golf has 11 courses (4 nine-hole and 7 eighteen-hole) and 13 game modes. Those include practice modes and arcade-style games, and the courses have a bright, stylised look.

  • Platforms: Windows, Apple Silicon Macs, iOS and Android.
  • Hardware: on Windows it runs on integrated graphics. Awesome Golf says you don't need a gaming PC.
  • Price: £14.99 a month, £149.99 a year or £349.99 for life, with a 14-day free trial.

The trade-off is course count. If you mainly want to play full rounds on real courses, 11 courses will run out of variety faster than GSPro or E6.

TGC 2019

TGC 2019 was a one-off PC licence with a big library of community-designed courses. I couldn't find an official page that still sells it. Retailers list it at $925 to $975, and trade reports say ProTee has stopped selling it. Garmin says it doesn't work with the R50. Uneekor still lists it as supported. I wouldn't build a new room around it.

Don't forget the maker's own software

Several launch monitors come with course software of their own. On some it's the main reason to buy them.

  • Garmin Home Tee Hero: 43,000 courses, up to 4 players. It runs on the R50's own screen or in the Garmin Golf app for the R10.
  • Foresight Premier: up to 111 courses on a Windows PC. 35 come with Course Pass, all 111 with Course Pass Pro.
  • Full Swing GOLF for KIT: 15 courses and a driving range, on a PC.
  • Golfzon Vision WAVE: up to 150 courses on a PC.
  • Uneekor REFINE: 5 courses, or 20 with REFINE+.
  • Rapsodo: more than 30,000 simulated courses with Premium.

Which one I'd choose

If you have a gaming PC and want to play a different course every week, GSPro. If you want licensed courses and an iPad option, E6, especially if your launch monitor includes some courses. For a family room without a gaming PC, Awesome Golf. If you own a Garmin R50 and don't want a PC at all, start with Home Tee Hero and add the others later. What golf simulator software costs each year adds up the running costs.

GSPro, E6 and TGC prices are only published in US dollars, so they're shown in dollars. E6 prices are from FlightScope's official store because TruGolf hides its own. TruGolf says E6 Golf 2026 replaces E6 Connect. TGC 2019 details are from retailers, not an official page.

Best practice

  1. Start from your launch monitorYour launch monitor decides which of the four you can run, and whether it needs a maker plan as well. Check its row before comparing features.
  2. Try before you pay yearlyAwesome Golf has a 14-day free trial. GSPro offers a 7-day refund, less a $15 fee. Use them before committing to a year.
  3. Use what's included firstThe Mevo Gen2 includes 8 E6 courses, LaunchBox includes E6 CONNECT Home, and the R50 has Home Tee Hero. Play those before adding a subscription.
  4. Match the PC to the resolutionGSPro at 4K wants an RTX 3080 and 32GB of memory. At 1080p, an RTX 3060 and 16GB is GSPro's minimum; it recommends an RTX 3060 Ti or 3070.

Gotchas to avoid

  • Old course counts in reviewsSome guides credit Awesome Golf with 200+ courses. Awesome Golf's own site lists 11. Check the maker's page, not a review.
  • E6 Connect is being replacedTruGolf says E6 Golf 2026 replaces E6 Connect. Check which version your launch monitor supports before you buy a plan.
  • Buying TGC 2019 nowI couldn't find an official page still selling it, and Garmin says it doesn't work with the R50.
  • GSPro on a Mac or iPadGSPro is Windows only. On a Mac, iPad or Android tablet, your choices are Awesome Golf, E6 on iOS, or your maker's own app.

Our recommendation

GSPro for variety if you run a Windows gaming PC; Awesome Golf for families without one; E6 when your launch monitor already includes courses.

If you want to play a different real course every week
GSPro, $250 a year, on a Windows PC.
If you want to play from an iPad
E6 Connect, or Awesome Golf, which also runs on Android and Mac.
If the room is mainly for family games
Awesome Golf, £149.99 a year or £349.99 for life.
If you own a Garmin R50
Start with Home Tee Hero on the unit, then add GSPro or Awesome Golf if you want more.

Questions people ask

Is GSPro better than E6 Connect?

They do different jobs. GSPro gives you 2,500+ free community courses for $250 a year but needs a Windows PC. E6 has fewer, licensed courses and runs on an iPad too. If you have a gaming PC and want variety, GSPro. If you want an iPad option, E6.

Does Awesome Golf need a gaming PC?

No. Awesome Golf says it runs on integrated graphics on Windows 10 or later. It also runs on Apple Silicon Macs, iOS and Android, so a tablet is enough.

How many courses does each have?

GSPro: 2,500+ community courses. E6 Connect: 39 on Basic, 90+ on Expanded, 27 on Home. Awesome Golf: 11. TGC 2019 has a large community library, but no official figure is published now.

Can I run more than one?

Yes, if your launch monitor supports them. Each one connects to the launch monitor separately, and you pay each one separately.

What is E6 Golf 2026?

TruGolf's newest version of E6. TruGolf says it replaces and expands on E6 Connect, is PC software, and is sold as a subscription. It doesn't publish prices or a full launch monitor list.
