What does golf simulator software cost each year?

Tom Hayward Tom Hayward, founder of OpenGolfer · Last reviewed · 3 min read

The short answer

From nothing to over $1,000 a year. The Mevo Gen2, Square Golf and LaunchBox need no subscription. Garmin course play is £89.99 a year. Rapsodo Premium is £165.99. Uneekor Pro is $199 and Foresight+ Gold $599, before courses or GSPro ($250).

The short answer

Anything from nothing to more than $1,000 a year. It depends almost entirely on the launch monitor. These are the makers' own prices, checked on 6 October 2026. Where a maker only publishes US dollars, I've shown dollars and not converted them.

No subscription needed

  • FlightScope Mevo Gen2: the FS Golf app is free on iOS, Android and PC, and you own 8 E6 Connect courses for life. FlightScope says there are no ongoing fees, mandatory subscriptions or annual licences. The optional Pro Package adds club data for $699 on sale ($1,000 regular), and you don't need it to play.
  • Square Golf and the OMNI: the app is free, practice modes are free, and you get 1,000 credits. A credit is one hole for one player. After that, top-ups cost £2.99 for 100, £5.99 for 220, £9.99 for 440, £17.99 for 770 or £19.99 for 1,000.
  • TruGolf LaunchBox: it ships with E6 CONNECT Home and 30 courses, with no annual subscription.
  • NVisage NEO-E: NVisage calls its MURLIE software complimentary.

Free to practise, paid for course play

  • Garmin Approach R50 and R10: range practice, shot history and stats are free in the Garmin Golf app. Home Tee Hero course play needs a Garmin Golf membership: £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year.
  • Rapsodo MLM2PRO: a new unit comes with a 45-day Premium trial. Premium unlocks 30,000+ courses and GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf. It costs £165.99 a year, £269.99 for two years or £499.99 for life.
  • Golfzon WAVE: the free plan has 3 courses. Golfzon's US site lists these plans:
    • Light: $19 a year
    • Basic: 18 courses, $99 a year or $199 for three years
    • Premium: 150 courses, $199 a year or $399 for three years
  • SkyTrak+ and ST MAX: SkyTrak's UK plans are Essential £90, Core (Foresight courses) £270, Core (TrackMan courses) £315 and Elite £540, all a year. Course play starts at Core. SkyTrak's US site says the ST MAX comes with a year of Core (FS).

Plans on the launch monitor itself

  • Foresight GC3, GCHawk and Falcon run on Foresight+, and the course software is Foresight Premier. Free covers core data and 10 sessions of history. Silver is $199 a year. Gold is $599 a year, and it's the only tier that allows third-party software such as GSPro. Courses are extra: Course Pass is $295 a year for 35 courses and Course Pass Pro is $595 a year for 111. Both need Silver or Gold, so the cheapest course play is $494 a year. Every new Foresight device includes a 30-day trial of Foresight+ and Course Pass. The membership belongs to your account, not the device. Foresight says the older FSX software will keep working, but it recommends Premier.
  • Full Swing KIT: the Full Swing app and E6 gameplay are free. The Premium App is £199 a year, and Full Swing GOLF for KIT, with 15 courses, is £399 a year (Full Swing Europe's UK prices).
  • Uneekor (Eye Mini, Eye Mini Lite, EYE XO2, EYE XR): Player is free and covers the VIEW range. Pro is $199 a year per unit and adds third-party software and 5 REFINE courses. Champion is $399 and Ultimate is $599.
  • SwingLogic SLX Hybrid Mini: the SLX Connect app is included. SwingLogic's US site sells an E6 licence key for $30.

Third-party software on top

  • GSPro: $250 a year, Windows only.
  • Awesome Golf: £14.99 a month, £149.99 a year or £349.99 for life.
  • E6 Connect, from FlightScope's store: Basic $300 a year, Expanded $600 a year.
  • TGC 2019: no official price. Retailers list it at $925 to $975 one-off, and it may no longer be sold.

Compare three years, not one

A yearly plan can cost more than the launch monitor difference. Over three years, at the prices above:

  • Mevo Gen2 with its included E6 courses: nothing.
  • Garmin R50 with Home Tee Hero: £269.97.
  • Rapsodo Premium: £497.97 a year at a time, or £499.99 for life.
  • Uneekor Pro plus GSPro: $449 a year, so $1,347.
  • Foresight GC3 with Silver and Course Pass Pro: $794 a year, so $2,382. Add GSPro and you need Gold: $1,444 a year.

Software plans are usually non-refundable once activated, so use the free trials first. To see which software your launch monitor can run, read which software works with my launch monitor. For how the software itself differs, see GSPro, E6 Connect, Awesome Golf and TGC compared.

Best practice

  1. Count three yearsMultiply each yearly plan by three and add it to the launch monitor. The order of your shortlist often changes.
  2. Use the trials firstRapsodo gives 45 days of Premium, Awesome Golf 14 days, and new Foresight devices 30 days of Foresight+ and Course Pass. Play them out before paying.
  3. Check the currencyGSPro, Foresight, Uneekor, Full Swing and Golfzon publish US dollar prices. Your card provider sets the sterling amount on the day.
  4. Price the PC tooGSPro, Foresight Premier, Uneekor VIEW and REFINE, and Full Swing GOLF need a Windows PC. Add it to the total if you don't have one.

Gotchas to avoid

  • "No subscription" on older GC3 pagesOlder GC3s came with FSX Play and no subscription. Foresight now recommends Premier on Foresight+, where courses ($494 a year minimum) and third-party software are paid yearly.
  • Paying twice for GSProOn Foresight and Uneekor, GSPro needs the maker's plan as well as GSPro. That is $849 a year on Foresight Gold.
  • Trials that auto-renewRapsodo's Premium trial renews for a year automatically unless you cancel. Note the date when you set the unit up.
  • Non-refundable activationsSoftware plans are usually non-refundable once registered or activated, even if you return the launch monitor.

Our recommendation

For the lowest running cost, the Mevo Gen2 or Square Golf. For no-PC course play, the Garmin R50 at £89.99 a year.

If you want no yearly software bill
The Mevo Gen2 (8 E6 courses included) or Square Golf (pay-as-you-play credits).
If you don't want a PC and are happy to pay yearly
The Garmin R50 with Garmin Golf, £89.99 a year.
If you want GSPro as your main software
Choose a launch monitor that needs no maker plan for it, so you pay only $250 a year.
If you want Foresight data and courses
Budget for Silver plus Course Pass ($494 a year) or Course Pass Pro ($794), and Gold instead of Silver for GSPro.

Questions people ask

Which launch monitors have no software subscription?

The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 (FS Golf app plus 8 E6 courses for life), Square Golf and OMNI (pay-as-you-play credits) and the TruGolf LaunchBox (E6 CONNECT Home, 30 courses). NVisage calls its MURLIE software complimentary.

How much is the Garmin Golf membership?

£8.99 a month or £89.99 a year in the UK. It unlocks Home Tee Hero course play on the R50 and R10. Range practice, shot history and stats are free in the Garmin Golf app.

Does the Foresight GC3 still include FSX Play?

Foresight now recommends Premier on Foresight+, though it says the older FSX software will keep working. Foresight+ is Free, Silver ($199 a year) or Gold ($599 a year). Courses need Silver or Gold plus Course Pass ($295) or Course Pass Pro ($595), so the cheapest course play is $494 a year.

Why are some prices in dollars?

Because that's all the maker publishes. GSPro, Foresight, Uneekor, Full Swing, Golfzon and E6 plans are priced in US dollars. I haven't converted them; your card provider will on the day.

Is a lifetime plan worth it?

Over three years, roughly break-even. Awesome Golf lifetime is £349.99 against £449.97 for three years. Rapsodo lifetime is £499.99 against £497.97. Beyond three years, lifetime comes out ahead.
